What goes into making a new habit?
Not all of it is a huge uphill battle. Everything doesn’t have to feel like you are in a state of being deprived. Some changes just happen gradually and before you know it, you are at a new normal.
Here is on of the surprising things that happened to me...
I used to eat ice cream almost every night before bed, then over time I was experiencing some major GI upset bloating, cramping, and swelling. I switched to cereal then, thinking I was doing better, still having symptoms… Slowly, I changed over time and it became less frequent. I began to make a special treat called Nice Cream.

Ingredients: Frozen bananas, spinach, peppermint oil, alternative milk, unsweetened chocolate chips.
NOW when I eat my Nice Cream it feels Super indulgent!
I thought it would be really tough to go without my ice cream, my weakness, my favorite thing! Turns out our tastes change with time. Now… if you took me out to get a banana split sundae it’d be way too sweet and rich for me. I wouldn’t enjoy it!
How crazy is that?? Who knew that would happen? I didn’t!
Here’s another cool one.
Chocolate...Who doesn’t love chocolate?
It has always been my go-to quick little piece of heaven. In the process of trying to cut down on sugar I started buying unsweetened chocolate. Then I moved to darker and darker chocolate because I started to enjoy the natural flavor of cacao. It became my new normal. I crave the bitter flavor now and not the sugar.
You’ll find your taste buds alter and become adapted to the real foods. The flavors are more pungent and noticeable. For example, things like carrots or blueberries will taste naturally sweet. Things that may not be sweet to some are noticeably sweet to others.
This was all quite surprising and happened so gradually I didn't even really notice.
